What are the benefits of composting?

Which bin should it go in if I can't compost it?

Where there is no access to industrial composting facilities, used TP Green packaging should be put in general waste. TP Green takeaway packaging is made from plants using renewable, lower carbon, recycled or reclaimed materials, and these sustainability benefits still apply no matter what happens to them after use.

General waste goes to either incineration or landfill. If TP Green packaging is incinerated, energy is produced. Incineration studies on compostable packaging show that their PLA bio plastic produces more heat than newspaper, wood or food waste; also that it produces no volatile gases and leaves little residue. Some in the waste sector prefer plant-based materials over conventional plastics as they give off fewer toxic gases.

In landfill, studies have shown that compostable packaging is inert and does not give off methane.

Please do not litter – compostable packaging is not expected to break down when discarded in the environment, and is not a solution to marine pollution.

How is porcelain eco-friendly?

Porcelain gets its sustainability from the fact that it’s durable, and can handle a lot of wear and tear. This is all thanks to it being fired at a higher temperature. It’s why we find porcelain in a lot of high maintenance areas: tile, flooring, and bathtubs—to name just a few.
The majority of the porcelain tableware pieces produced by Cookplay are hand-made due to the elaborative designs of the designer herself, Ana Roquero. Glazed pieces are certified food-safe and the designer makes sure the labor conditions in the factories are beyond satisfactory. On another note, Cookplay collaborates with chefs from all over the world to support women, and is a frequent contributor to solidarity projects.

Why is biodegradable better than recyclable?

Biodegradable waste can be used for composting or a resource for heat, electricity and fuel by means of incineration or anaerobic digestion. Biodegradable is also better because recent news have brought to light that products that claim ‘recyclable’ are not actually being recycled.

Where can I compost?

Home composting is quiet easy! Should you be interested in purchasing a composting machine, you can find one here.  Should you need a higher volume producing composting machine for your business, please contact info@tpgreen.shop and we will accommodate you with the industrial sizes available.

What is the type of paper used in packaging?

Packaging that is made from paper uses sustainably sourced paper and cardboard, using recycled content where it is possible.

Does that mean that your disposable packaging options have 0% plasticizers?

We would be happy to say that some of our PLA range does contain plasticizers to prevent the material from being too brittle and breaking.
These products, once formed, are all tested to the independent EN13432 standard which does ensure that the materials will break down in under 12 weeks in industrial composting standards and that no residue that would be harmful to the environment would remain.

Generally speaking, Vegware and Cookplay packaging have a shelf life of up to one year.

If I can’t compost TP Green Packaging, is it still better for the environment than conventional packaging?

Yes! There are environmental benefits for TP Green packaging on the production-side. The packaging we offer is made from plants using renewable, lower carbon, recycled or reclaimed materials.

The earth has finite resources. Disposables are used for such a short time, so it makes sense to switch to renewable materials, reserving conventional plastics for applications where they can’t be easily replaced. Lots of people enjoy using plant-based materials, knowing they are a simple way to reduce carbon and help them go green.
